On October 11th, Secondary students at Brent Knoll voted in the Lewisham Young Mayor elections. Lewisham have the longest established Young Mayor’s programme nationally – started in 2004 – and Brent Knoll students have voted each year for their preferred candidate. Once voted in, the Young Mayor controls a budget of £25,000 and is a spokesperson for young people in the borough.
The Young Mayor for 2017–18 is 14 year old Laurelle Henry from Sedge Hill School and the Deputy Young Mayor is Edafese Erhenede.
